Charlie Szasz was born January 29, 1924 in Bekes, Hungary and passed away September 4, 2018 in North Battleford, SK at 94 years of age.The family moved to Canada in 1925. Charlie attended Tinson School and began farming with his brother at a very early age. For many years they grain farmed and raised cattle. In 1975 they sold the cattle and moved into Spiritwood. Then they did strictly grain farming.Charlie loved farming and secondly he loved to play crib and throw horseshoes in the summer and curl in the winter. Which he won many trophies for. His last few months was spent at the Rose Gill Lodge in Rabbit Lake, SK.
Charlie will be remembered by his brother, Jim in Ladysmith, BC, numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and many friends. He is predeceased by: his parents, Gabor and Sophia, his brothers Gabor Jr., Joe, Louis, and Gordon. His sisters, Sophie Balla, Susan Kiss and Helen Kroeker.
A Funeral Service was held on Monday September 10, 2018 at 2:00 pm from the Spiritwood Civic Centre
Spiritwood, SK with Delores Beaulac officiating. Chance Szasz delivered the eulogy, Honorary Pallbearers were All those who shared in Charlie’s Life. The Urn Bearer was Edward Szasz. Following the funeral service, all those in attendance were invited for Tea and fellowship in the Spiritwood Civic Centre before the interment at the Norbury Cemetery. Memorial Donations may be made to the Spiritwood Museum and the Rose Gill Lodge in memory of Charlie Szasz as tokens of remembrance.
